The concept of my exhibition work involves a 3.5-meter-wide by 2.4-meter-high partition. The partition is divided into five layers, each sawed in different colors and perforated to allow threads to pass through. Wooden rods connect all the layers. The idea is to give a microscopic glimpse into fabric and separate the pattern.
The pattern created by the overlapping layers, viewed from the front, will be transformed into a collection of thick, tactile upholstery fabrics. From these fabrics, as I do annually in my work, I intend to create a seating area beside the partition with sofa parts and cushions made from the fabrics, along with other complementary products. Additionally, I will display the fabrics as plain weaves to convey the feeling of a woven, not printed, pattern.
I've been bridging these worlds for years. As a student, I was the only one studying in three departments: industrial, graphic, and fashion. I studied architecture and civil engineering, and at Shenkar, I had master classes in the jewelry department.
I am, perhaps, the fragmented made whole. The exhibition deals with color, but I believe that even if a pattern is made of several colors, its impact is one color: multi-faceted and figurative.
